Environmental Studies
Since R Street was as a warehouse and industrial district for over 150 years, the corridor contains many toxic or potential toxic sites. Brownfield clean-up remains a challenge to the redevelopment of R Street. Additionally, as the corridor begins to transform into a higher density mixed-use neighborhood, the infrastructure and physical characteristics of the area will change and need to be addressed or mitigated.
